Concert in the Park - A Rousing Success

Thank you to everyone who attended our Del Norte Place Neighborhood Association sponsored Concert in the Park held at Encanto Park last Saturday. If you couldn’t get there, I’m very sorry you missed out on this truly special occasion. It was a Very Big Deal! The band, Guitarras Latinas, played for over two hours and put on a wonderful show. The versatility of their repertoire, along with their professional musical skills has made them a very popular world music group. Guitarras Latinas has appeared at many larger format venues around Arizona, including a performance as an opening act for the band Santana. They are a band in residence at the Hyatt Gainey Ranch Resort on Saturday nights.
The food from Hatch-It was delicious, and the Fat Boy ice cream sandwiches were a perfect cool down dessert. Kids of every age came to enjoy the afternoon. It started out a bit warm, but once 5pm came around, we had plenty of shade to enjoy the beautiful day. I want to thank the many people from Fairview, Del Norte, and friends from other places who said yes to showing up to make this a truly welcoming and inclusive event! We couldn’t have done it without you! Thank you to Kenny, John, Jodie, Gwen, Jen, Julie, Sharon, Camila, Rebecca, Anne, Alex, Michele, Gary, Heather, Jack, Steve, Ezgi, Sandy, Leigh, Daphne, Colette, Jodie, Ruth, Sue, Arlee, Ken, Tina, Kelly, Joel, Blanca, Christine, Jim, Dawn, Ken, Shawn, Marci and everyone else who helped make this such a special event. A big thank you goes to Rudy, Danny and all the staff at Encanto Park.
The goal of this program has been to invigorate activity in our parks throughout the city through established neighborhood organizations like Del Norte Place and Fairview Place Neighborhood Associations.
Through this objective, it promotes a variety of recreational opportunities, provides a welcoming and safe place for everyone, and encourages hosting of events for the enjoyment of city parks and facilities.
The two neighborhoods of Del Norte Place and Fairview Place collaborated in writing separate grants with similar goals in mind. Each grant was written to include the residents of both neighborhoods attending the planned events. The deadline to apply was Friday, October 6, 2023. We received notification from the City of Phoenix that we had won the grant on January 30, 2024. With a lot of coordination and planning we made this happen! Thank you for all of your support. I am truly grateful have so many wonderful neighbors and continue to welcome your active participation and feedback in making our neighborhood one of the nicest communities in the valley.
