Our Fall Edition of the Del Norte Place Golf Invitational was played on Veterans Day,
November 11th, at the Encanto Short Nine Golf Course.  The format was a 9 hole scramble with fierce competition among 3 teams. We had a tie for first at -2 under par and third place was one shot off the pace at -1 under. It took a 5-hole scorecard playoff to beat the defending champions from our last event in May.  The winning team was captained by Del Norte Neighbor Teal Sanderson and her two friends Shari Kirkpatrick and Jennifer Stevens.  They were presented with the Championship Trophy and the opportunity to put on the Official Del Norte Place Invitational Championship Jacket.

We raised money for the Del Norte Place Neighborhood Association and for the K9s for Warriors Foundation, who provides service dogs to veterans.  Our total proceeds after expenses totaled $563 and we donated $350 to the K9’s for Warriors Foundation.

I want to continue our efforts to build this semi annual event and look for your support through finding sponsors to donate prizes and entrants to participate and play for the prizes.  Everyone wins and we’re happy to entertain any worthy causes you might want to suggest.  I look for anyone who can help me with running this event and this Fall’s event volunteer deserves a big round of appreciation for helping me this time, Rob Gale.  Rob built this great little doghouse that we used for a prop during the pre-tournament competition (a putting contest, won by a member of the winning 9 hole event) and a couple of holes on the course… hole #4 and #9, closest to the doghouse…. Del Norte Place Neighbor, Pat Stanczyk won it on both holes!  Pat took home our grand prize of a pair of golf shoes in our spring event, and he also had the winning ticket in this Fall event but was gracious enough to decline accepting it and we drew another ticket to reward some other player.

Again, we thank everyone who showed up to participate and assist in running this fun event and look forward to our spring edition in April 2024.
